Creative Intelligence 101

Creativity is our ability to bring things into being — and it’s innate to us all as humans.

Einstein called it “intelligence having fun”.

When we create, we engage both our critical mind and our imagination. So we can think about creativity as balanced, flexible, integrated cognition.

Creative intelligence is our ability to understand, connect to and work skillfully with our creativity.

Building our creative intelligence helps us:

  • feel more connected to ourselves, our agency and potential

  • bring out the creative best in our teams and organisations

  • meet the complex challenges of our time with energy, focus, courage and imagination.

who it’s for

The 8-week Deep Dive is for leaders and established professionals in any field.

You don’t have to be ‘a creative’ or work in a creative role. In fact, if you’re feeling wholly uncreative right now, this might be exactly the programme for you.

Wherever you’re at, we’ll work safely and compassionately to help you understand, connect with and build creative intelligence in your work and life.

But you do need to be ready for deep work. This is an intensive programme. It’s a shake up. And it’s designed to challenge and stretch you toward the creative, leadership and professional shifts you’re looking to make.

The programme is also hands-on. Creativity isn’t something we can develop intellectually. We need to experience it.

So you’ll be physically exploring your creativity, strengthening the brain/hand connection and having fun making things. What you choose to make and explore is entirely up to you.

What we’ll cover

In weeks 1 – 4, we reconnect with our creativity. We’ll

  • lower the stakes and build a small, consistent creative practice

  • look at what creativity is (and isn’t)

  • connect to our imagination, and

  • deepen our curiosity

In weeks 5 – 8, we build our creative intelligence at work. We’ll focus on

  • strengthening our sense of agency and perspective

  • igniting creativity in others, and

  • applying creativity to our most complex challenges.

Group sessions will explore these themes, and delve into our collective wisdom, experience and curiosity.

The programme workbook will provide prompts and resources, and a private Whatsapp group chat will provide support between sessions.

investing in creative intelligence

Most people want to feel more creative, and most organisations want to foster greater creativity — and for good reason.

Creativity is our most powerful tool for complex problem solving.

When we engage in creative activity, our brains light up in a remarkable way. Two major networks — the default mode network (responsible for our imagination and sense of purpose and identity) and the executive control network (responsible for focus, analysis, and evaluation) — start working together.

It’s like cross-training for the brain. This integration strengthens focus and flexibility, deepens connection, and supports our overall performance and wellbeing.

On a personal level, developing creative intelligence reconnects us to ourselves — our sense of agency, possibility, and aliveness at work and in life.

At an organisational level, building creative intelligence supports resilience, complex problem solving, innovation and performance over time.
